Dr. Dan Sullivan: Being named New Jersey’s top oral surgeons is un”four”gettable!

It isn’t every day that a dentist earns the praise of his or her peers to be named tops in their profession, but Dr. Dan Sullivan has enjoyed four days like that in his illustrious career.  That’s’ because for the fourth time, the founder of Warren Oral Surgery was nominated to New Jersey Monthly’s 2012 Jersey Choice Top Dentist in its annual survey of New Jersey dentists. The publication sent ballots to the state’s practicing dentists asking them to identify which dentists they would send a loved one to. Those results were reviewed, tabulated, and published in the magazine’s July 2012 issue.

New Jersey Monthly hired Leflein Associates, Inc., a Ringwood-based market research consultancy, to oversee the survey. Here’s how it worked: In December 2011, a one-page questionnaire was mailed to all 6,426 New Jersey-based dentists licensed in the state between five and 50 years. The mailing list, also used by the Board of Dentistry for licensing purposes, was obtained from the New Jersey Department of Consumer Affairs. Respondents could either return the original paper questionnaire or complete the questionnaire online. To avoid duplication, web-survey participants were required to enter their dental license number. Furthermore, each printed ballot had a unique code number to further protect against duplication.

Over fourteen hundred fifty valid ballots, equaling 23 percent of the state’s dentists, were returned to Leflein Associates, Inc. Dentists were subdivided into nine categories, and, for the fourth time, Dr. Sullivan’s professional peers named him tops among the state’s oral surgeons.

“I am honored my colleagues saw fit to recognize my continual efforts to improve and perfect dental care in New Jersey. As wonderful as that is, however, I am even more grateful for my patients and the dedicated staff with whom I work alongside every day,” says Dr. Sullivan.
